As we near the halfway point of second semester, some exciting areas will soon be ready for students! By early March, the new science labs (located in the former library space) will be occupied by students in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The new labs will be equipped with modern equipment, preparation areas, and lab necessities to help students gain the skills they need to be competitive.
Shortly after these new labs are open, additional renovated classrooms will be available on the second floor and teachers will be able to move their classes to permanent homes there. This will make room to allow renovations to continue on the first floor of the building.
Construction of the new portion of the building – where the commons and library will be housed – is also progressing. While there’s not much to look at yet, a lot of work behind the scenes for foundation and utilities is in place. While the Middle and High School project is underway, information is now available about Phase II of the Brentwood School District’s facilities plans. The Board of Education voted to place Prop E on the April 7th ballot. This $29 million bond issue will address pressing needs for both elementary schools in the district. Together with the construction from Phase I of the process, Prop E will help secure the district’s financial situation for the next 9-10 years.
