The planning process for Proposition E and the updates to Elementary and Early Childhood facilities is underway! Soon, the Board of Education will be selecting members of the Elementary Facilities Planning Committee. The Elementary Facilities Planning Committee will work with the Board of Education and district leadership to help guide the design process of updated elementary and early childhood facilities using the funds from Proposition E. This work will take place over the 2020-2021 school year.
During this time, the committee will be responsible for engaging other members of the community, soliciting feedback, studying data, and ultimately providing recommendations for how to meet the needs of current and future early childhood and elementary students in terms of facilities.
As that work begins, our facilities team has engaged an engineering team to begin initial soil borings that will help guide the design process. At the end of the design process, sometime in Spring 2021, the District will put the construction work out to bid. With any major construction process, Brentwood School District will post and solicit bids from companies and present candidates to the Board of Education.
An updated timeline is as follows:
McGrath Elementary / BECC
- 6-Month Design Work Completed: 6/9/2021
- Early Sitework Package Bidding: April 2021
- Project Bidding: June/July 2021
- Construction Completed: January 2023
Mark Twain Elementary
- Concept Design: January – March 2021
- Design Hold: April – July 2021 (May push this design hold until September to see progress on McGrath as it will not affect the end dates)
- Complete Design: Summer 2022 (November 2022)
- Project Bidding: Aug / Sept 2022 (December 2022)
- Construction Completed: January 2024
